Back to book covers again.
I spent a little while in Waterstones the other day looking at book cover design from the big names with book series out. I noticed they have just about all started with new covers in matt black with a small, simple design on each one. Like the Hunger Games novels in black. Terry Pratchett and his Discworld books has some of the best drawn covers we are all used to and can recognise easily. They represent what you are going to get inside the books. But to jump on the bandwagon all his series of books are now out in just black. Maybe all his fans have enough money to go out and buy them all just for the sake of a collection. Now for the complete opposite. Charlaine Harris and her Sookie Stackhouse novels have been out with several covers we have become used to. Her latest covers are, in my opinion, childish. I can't see why anyone would go down that path, the books are not kids books and if I were fourteen I would not have a kids book on my bedside table.

I'm not sure I would want an entire bookcase with black book covers. I realize that is one of the fads right now, but it seems a little depressing to me. I like when a book cover represents the contents inside - and when it has the 'feel' of the story - but I do like some colour in them, too! ~ Julie :)

If you mean the yellow with the blood i completely agree. Its not even similar to her previous covers which is odd.
