Worse yet, that you realize that your relationship/friendship with the victim could place you on the list of suspects!!! I was given this opportunity to read and review this hilarious, mysterious book from the publisher. Although its not my usual genre read, the title alone got my curiosity and interest going. Well here goes. After finding she’s on the list of suspects for the murder of her former colleague Donna Leigh the owner of an Omaha Ad agency, and a few of her friends/colleagues set out to try and find clues leading to solve the murder themselves. As detectives would do themselves, gathering informative clues on the case was difficult to say the least. Also, proving to be come dangerous at times. The group leaves a trail of destruction (not purposely of course) of destroyed buildings and injured police officers. Stirring things up not only with the police department, but also enough to make the true murderer very nervous!!! Things get more serious and dangerous for Donna and her colleagues after she (Donna) receives a threat to “back-off”. But her ever willing to help co-workers continue to work feverishly their way through the process of the investigating until they can make sure the murderer is behind bars, not Donna. Donna starts to look at all the different turns this investigation was taking. They’d taken facts and insinuations making logical assumptions. Leading them to the colossal assumption the true murderer had known Claire (the victim) and her WELL. Making Donna uneasy, and very much on edge. Everyone, Donna, her colleagues and the police detectives were heading down a very specific road yet with no clear evidence that they were going in the right direction. Feeling so frustrated that they could be basically barking up the wrong tree (so to speak), and also knowing/feeling that they may never know what had happened to Claire. With so many conflicting emotions running through her head, like had she been a friend/loved ones- damn, hell had she really given a damn about her!! It was driving her crazy. She had invested so much time and energy into solving this murderous mystery, curiosity can be a bitch. And she so wanted her old life back. Going through all the suspects currently on the suspect list, ruling out people in her own mind she felt weren’t capable of the murder for one reason or another. One ruled out, two ruled out although some behaviors were a little off and “crazy-mind” kind of behaviors that had her looking a bit closer at them before she completely ruled them out and off the list. Then there were the threatening notes – the first one hand delivered and the second one typed out from a computer at the University library. OMG I’ve been giving away too much of the story here. So what I want to say without giving away anymore of the story that lays between the covers of this book is. THIS BOOK IS A MUST READ. So much goes on, and the best part is that there is a follow sequel !!!! Yeah. I would highly recommend this book for YA and up. |
