A teen story about a young boy, Dean, who is being bullied by the school ‘jock’, Freddy Kellly, and goes on a date with a scarred girl. The jock and his friend then attacks the girl on their date and this plays on his conscience. He goes berserk attacking the bully after being plagued by guilt for not standing up for her. The twist in the tail is that unknowing to him she was secretly dating the jock. Years later Dean shows up again to find out she had surgery to get rid of the scars and is bitter about being dumped for being pretty and he feels confused about the way his life went due to those events.
Overall a good read with a good storyline easy to follow and being a short story was quick to finish.
