Rooty The Tree Troll By Bob Dixon

Review by Jennifer
About the Book: Rooty the Tree Troll is happy living in the forest with his woodland friends until one day when a factory is built by a man who has no regard for the safety and welfare of the forest. The factory is dumping oil and smoke into the forest and destroying it, making the animals sick - and the owner doesn't care. What will Rooty do to save the forest? What can he do?
I was given an e-copy of the book by the author in exchange for my honest review.
Rooty the Tree Troll is a great read for children 8 and under. I read the book to my 5 year old son and he seemed to enjoy it. He was upset when the animals got covered in goo, but cheered with the outcome at the end. He thought the scenes while the animals were in the house were funny and liked the drawings.
I think the book will help children understand how factories can hurt our environment if the welfare of the animals and their homes are not taken into consideration. It also shows that no matter how big or small, everyone can make a difference. There is also a handy vocabulary chart in the back for the children to use and a crossword puzzle that goes along with the vocabulary words.
I am sure I will be reading this book several more times to my son.
