Deadlier than the Male by D Michelle Gent
![]() Review by Natalie
Where oh where to begin...hated it. Who am I friggin kidding?? How anyone could ever dislike this book is beyond me for the reasons that I most definitely will list. 1. Sexy Heroine. 2. She's a werewolf. 3. She has a Porsche 4. It's basically 2 books in one! Now about the story... Red a.k.a Hazel is the Sentinel Exemplar, the big cheese in Wolf culture who was prophesied from the beginning to be the possible saviour or destructor of them all. In her 17th year she is whelped by an ancient wolf in order to become the bride of Luke, a fellow wolf. She is torn from the hume world and must adapt or die. Each full moon sees her humanity slowly slip away with her consumption of human flesh. The story is continued through the retelling of Red's history and present day which flow well and doesn't confuse at all. Your heart reaches for Red at many points throughout and you feel oddly glad when she gets her bloody revenge. Ticks so many boxes for me with that it contains a little bit of everything that entices me to a story. It does contain strong language and very graphic action so is not for the faint hearted in that sense. |

Deadlier ... than the Male by D Michelle Gent
![]() Review by Julie
I’m going to start off right away by saying that I loved this book, and can’t wait to read the others in the series. To borrow a phrase I saw bandied around the other night, it’s ‘unputdownable’. Deadlier … is about werewolves; werewolf families in a werewolf society. I like this excerpt from the back cover: “You think you know your neighbours, your town and your surroundings; but everyone has a secret, some are darker than others. Hide in plain sight. Keep everyone in the dark; give nothing away. Leave no witnesses. These are the rules governing a society that exists within our own.” And when I first opened the book, I was delighted to find a poem written by Rudyard Kipling, The Female of the Species. A chilling and appropriate introduction that had my spine tingling before I even got to the first chapter. Michelle’s book is highly entertaining; her characters well-rounded and believable. Red, the main character, is strong physically, intellectually and emotionally—and yet, has a vulnerability that is extremely appealing. All her characters, no matter how they are placed in importance, have been given similar treatment, respecting their own strengths and foibles. The book has been well-researched, and the plotlines are excellently laid out. There is strong language throughout Deadlier …, and graphic violence; thus, this is not a book I would recommend for the younger set. This is a more sophisticated write, that would definitely be enjoyed by more mature teens to adults, however, and I give it a full five stars in all categories. A must-read book for all who read this genre, Michelle’s, Deadlier … than the male, does not disappoint, and is absolutely ‘unputdownable’. Cruel … And Unusual by D Michelle Gent
![]() Review by Julie
Cruel…And Unusual is the second novel in Michelle’s highly acclaimed Werewolf series, following Deadlier…Than The Male. After reading Cruel … I’m a huge fan of Michelle’s unique, well-researched approach to her novels and action-packed writing style. I love the way her mind works! There are many theories about the identity of Jack the Ripper, the serial murderer of Whitechapel. Myths perpetuated by the press, and the fact that he was never caught, have created huge speculation that romanticizes the mystery of the notorious killer even today. Michelle’s telling of the story in Cruel…And Unusual, is a chillingly plausible version, made even more believable by the author’s brilliant interweaving of fact and fiction. Michelle’s characters are entirely credible, each having their own complex individuality; her location descriptions authentic, and action scenes spell-binding. I also appreciated the introduction of the Native American Indian Keme into Red’s saga, which brings an additional stimulating and intriguing perspective and depth to the intricate layers of Werewolf lore in this excellently penned book. There is strong language throughout Cruel …, and graphic violence; thus, this is not a book for the faint-hearted, nor would I recommend it for the younger set. However, this sophisticated write would definitely appeal to more mature teens to adults, and I give it a full five stars in all categories. Michelle’s, Cruel … And Unusual, is guaranteed to thrill you— and chill you— right down to your very toes. Published 01/09/2011 Publisher Gingernut Books Ltd ISBN 9781907939099 |

Blood on the Moon by D Michelle Gent
![]() Review by Tracy
This is the follow on book to Deadlier...than the male. Again it's a well written book. You have to read Deadlier first to acquaint yourself with the core characters. Deadlier is a fast paced book, whereas Blood is more sedate, but still gets the reader thinking, it's also based on one timeline, unlike Deadlier, but equally 'un put downable' - I feel that this book is leading to a further adventure with Red, and really do hope that she gets revenge for Hazel! If you like mythological stories read Deadlier and then Blood, it's a gentle but interesting introduction to the supernatural! By the way, I am not normally a reader of this type of book, usually crime, psychological stuff, or historical stuff, which, as strange as it sounds Blood and Deadlier both manage to combine - very clever Michelle!!! |

Dream Lover (Dusty the Demon Hunter) by D. Michelle Gent
![]() Review by Lindsey
A short story This is a story about Dusty who is a half Demon. Since the death of her mother she has lived with her grandparents. They have learnt all there is to know about being a half demon so they are very understanding of their granddaughter. The story revolves around Dusty’s best friend Ange, who discovers after a night out that she is being haunted by a demon in her sleep and it is up to Dusty to save the day. After being dragged into the Demon world by the Demon in question it’s there she meets Hunter. A character that I am hoping to learn more about in bk2. For a short story this was really good, I liked Dusty’s character, she’s a strong biker chick which I think makes a great main character. I really like that her grandparents being on her side it makes her character seem more independent. Her friend Ange is from what I gather is fully human which makes her vulnerable. Then there is Hunter, we don’t get to hear much about him in this book but I have high hopes for Dusty and Hunter in bk2, well I can only hope. I have read one other of Michelle Gent’s books called Deadlier… than the male which is more adult than young adult. I will put a review up for this at some point. 10,000 word short story |

Dream Lover (Dusty the Demon Hunter) by D. Michelle Gent
This is the first thing I’ve read of Michelle’s so far and I was impressed! (No, I’m not just saying it!)
This short story is like a three course meal, she hits you with dessert first, then the main (story) and the starter last (back story on Dusty).
I really like the way it was done, you want to know more about the main character of Dusty so you’re compelled to read on getting treated with snippets along the way as the story goes deeper. Dusty sounds like she’s going to be quite a complex character and there are without a doubt more treats in store and lots more courses to the Dusty stories to come! The only complaint I have is that it was too short, just when I was really getting into it, it ended! ..... I need to go and bloody well download the next one now!! You little Minx!!

Review by Deb
I read this in one sitting, it was so easy to read, it was fast-paced, completely enthralling and sucked me right in. The imagery was so good that it was more like watching a movie than reading a book. Had me gripped and I just want to read more....more....MORE! Loved this I rate it as 5 out of 5.

Flights of Fantasy (Dusty the Demon Hunter) by D Michelle gent
![]() Review by Louise
Dusty the Demon Hunter – Flights of Fantasy by D. Michelle Gent I really liked this sequel to the Dusty series, This may be a slightly biased opinion but i loved the description of the feelngs Dusty has when riding her bike at the beginning, as that never seems to be elaborated on in anything i’ve read and is bob on! Plus it gives an insight into who she is a bit more i think and how she likes to feel “free”. I love the description of the “ting, ting” of the bike cooling down after you’ve been for a blast! (Thats just me though being a Biker myself!) :-) I thought i might have missed something in this book as Hunter and Dusty’s relationship seemed to progress quite quickly from her meeting him in the first story but then, some relationships do that when there is instant chemistry there! So looking forward to seeing how that pans out for the characters, although i get a feeling that Hunter isnt all that he seems to be! As for poor Ange, there never seems to be a dull moment in HER life! Loving the development of the characters on the whole, and love the fact that you can read this in one sitting. Time to go and read the next one! 10,000 word short story |
Trouble x 3 (Dusty the Demon Hunter) by D Michelle Gent
![]() Review by Louise
There are many things I like about the Dusty books, the following is just two of them: 1, The cover is simple and bright and easy to pick out, grabbing the reader’s attention. The symbolism that ties in with the nature of the story too, I also like. 2, The author’s ability to describe a situation or scene right down to the finest detail. (I believe Ernest Hemmingway was complimented on his ability for fine description too!) Personally, I preferred the story lines in the other two previous short stories as they grabbed my attention more. This was a story with a slower pace and more detail in the characters personalities and the chemistry between them all. I can’t wait to see what the next instalment is going to be as there are so many possibilities with the characters and their abilities and possible recurring characters. I don’t normally score with stars as I don’t believe it’s my place, after all, I’m no expert! I just try and give a constructive and honest opinion. |

Trouble x3 (Dusty the Demon Hunter) by D Michelle Gent

Review by Natalie
The third instalment in the series see's Dusty come to the rescue and do what she does best, kicking ass and taking names.
Dusty lives in a quiet and secluded woods so why was she woken in the early hours of the morning?
Checking the window she's shocked to see a young man on her drive and appear outside her window in the blink of an eye, however she has her demon eyesight to rely on and reveal that he's a vampire.
The vampire Jerik seems harmless enough so Dusty agrees to meet him thinking it harmless until Hunter intervenes.
Love the team of Dusty and Hunter, both half demon with a full human heart. Dusty is an endearing heroin that you instantly love.
Make it a full book Michelle!

Six Tasks (Dusty the demon hunter) by D Michelle Gent
![]() Review by Phoenix
Another well written book in the Dusty series. A gripping short story that has you hooked from beginning to end. I love the way the characters develop with each book and you get to 'know' them. The adventure is interesting following Dusty and Hunter into depths for her to face tests and horrors. At times was very compelling as to what happens next and once you find it out still keeps your interest.... 5* as ever :) 10,000 word short story |
