Fifty shades of Grey by E L James
![]() Review by Natalie
Who would have thought her best friends bout of flu would lead her down a dark path of fetish sex and meeting the love of her life? Anastasia certainly didn't when she first met Tycoon Christian for a seemingly innocent College newspaper interview. After the mortifying first encounter with the gorgeous billionaire Ana returns to normal life glad it's over and a little wistful of the feelings their meeting has aroused unknown that the domineering Mr Grey has set his sights on her. A very enjoyable and sometimes overwhelming read with the hard core BDSM elements it contains which were very detailed but weren't stale and expected like some adult novels. It is definitely about the sex but the underlying love story is very compelling. Needless to say I read it quick and raced to get the sequel! The Fifty Shades Trilogy by E L James![]() Review by Sherrill
It looks like mainstream erotica has arrived. In book 1 (Grey) we met the shy Ana and charismatic but mysterious Christian Grey. There is an instant and undeniable attraction between the two who know themselves they are mismatched, albeit for completely different reasons. Christian Grey is accustomed to having a contract with his lovers, due to him only wanting a BDSM relationship, and Ana is a virgin (which was unbelievable, but I went with it). So of course they begin a relationship, which is at times cute (the emails between the two characters had me laughing out loud!) and at others, the pages almost catch on fire. Book 2 (Darker) finds Christian and Ana more involved with one another, and introduces other characters to the mix for purposes of making (in my opinion) a fuller story line. Again the emails and incredibly hot sex scenes keep it going, and the deepening relationship between them is at times sweet and irritating (Ana spends a lot of time being insecure and pissed off over stupid things) and we find out a little more about Christian's past. Book 3 (Freed) - I won't do the big spoiler, but I'm sure you can guess what stage their relationship goes to by now, and in this book we are shown a softer, more vulnerable side of Christian that plays nicely against his usual uber controlling ways. Not that he isn't still Master of the Universe (which was the original title of this story), he is and again with the emails and the sex scenes (who doesn't want to spend some time in the Red Room of Pain at this point?? haha) the story follows to a nice conclusion. Overall, I do absolutely recommend this wild, erotic romp. Fast reads all of them, and you may just get some new ideas to spice up your own love life. |
