The Zombie Wilson Diaries by Timothy W Long

When I was recommended this book I thought it looked like fun and unlike anything I’d ever read before. I wasn't wrong! The cover reminded me of the film “Castaway”. If you have seen it, you would know that it is a film starring Tom Hanks who gets stranded on a desert island and finds a football which he keeps for company and turns him into an imaginary friend called Wilson. He does this in a vain attempt to hold on to his sanity. This is a similar story but instead of the main character finding a football to keep for company when stranded after an airplane crash. He finds a woman who was on the doomed flight with him, but unfortunately she has contracted some sort of virus that has turned her into a zombie! Sounds crazy??! Yes, it is! But its really good! I couldn't put it down! Its written in the style of a diary, the character is witty and clearly deranged. Which makes it funny, and you go on the journey with him as he loses his sanity more and more resulting in an abrupt if not slightly predictable ending! The things he gets up to with the zombie woman and the way he describes things is really amusing (Don't worry folks! No Necrophilia involved folks!) But you have to admire the way he tries to look after her, even though she is dead and decomposing rapidly!! Obviously its really disgusting in parts too. Anyone who is a zombie fan or just wants to read something a bit different, should get their hands on this now! Its lighthearted and an easy enjoyable read. Available in paperback and ebook |

The Zombie Wilson Diaries by Timothy W. Long

Review by Claire
I have to say that I was a little disappointed with this book. I don't know what I was expecting but I couldn't help but feel let down by the diary as a whole.
At first the diary was a novel idea; excuse the pun, but after daily extracts where the stranded man is always talking about dressing up his less than sexy zombie and cleaning out her crevices excetera it got a bit too much.
I admire the thought process and general idea of the book, however I felt that it lacked in styling that would suit my personal reading taste. I think this could be improved upon somewhat if the writing style was adapted and consistent throughout along with reducing the amount of sexual type references to the zombie girl. Just my opinion for what it's worth.
