Fury (New Species book 1) by Laurann Dohner

Review by Natalie
Ellie is undercover within the dangerous Mercile laboratory where they are illegally testing DNA splicing and drugs on human beings, or they were when they were first born. Now after experimentation and gene splicing they are all part animal with that part of them being very prominent.
Knowing her mission is to solely gather evidence she tries to avoid her feelings toward to the unconventionally beautiful 416.
Tough choices were made but the intel got to her handler and the captives from the Mercile labs were freed and sent to a development solely for their use and rehabilitation. Ellie is determined to ease her guilt over the treatment of the New Species and works with the females at Homeland, her mind always turning to what happened with 416.
I enjoyed this book but have very mixed feelings about it. I think what kept my attention was the New Species characters as they were all very like-able and interesting. Ellie however was abit of a martyr for me, always seeming to be either injured or naked!
There was alot of near rape scenes with mentioning of previous experiences of it which I thought were completely unnecessary. Ellie herself experiences it on two occasions alone and the first encounter just accepts it because she believes she deserves it?
It is very adult content with alot of sexual content but it is well written and tantalizing.
I am compelled to try the next in the series as I know it'll be about a new couple who will overcome all obstacles and fall in love, abit predictable now but I want to hear more of the New Species.
