Midnight Hunter (Midnight Hunter Trilogy #1) by Bonnie Bernard

Review by Anne
Oh man I was so excited when I was given the opportunity to read the complete series of The Midnight Hunter by Bonnie Bernard, and then when it arrived on my doorstep I couldn’t open it up fast enough!!!! My squeals of delight probably could be heard on my whole block. So pretty and breath taking just to look at and then when you start to read the first book in the trilogy you just don’t want to put it down. THANKS SO MUCH BONNIE *angel hugz n luvz* luv ya girl.
When I started this book I thought “ok I’ll read a couple of chapters”, and then get back to my other book that I had already started to read.. but nope I couldn’t put it down. I absolutely loved it! A very unique look into the underworld and vampires, that will clinging to the edge of your seat just enough and for long enough to have you plunged straight into the next book.
Feeling different than other 7 year olds, Donna has always felt self conscious of her feet, or her toes to be exact. Until one day her Grandma sat her down and explained about why her toes are the way they are, and what it means. Toes like Donnas are proof that a beautiful goddess watches over her and keeps her safe so she can fulfill her special destiny. Making Donna, feel special instead of weird. (I sure miss my Grandma’s wisdom)
5 years later Grandma shared more of her wisdom with Donna. “Someday you’ll meet two men,” she told her. “One will sweep you off your feet, the other will knock you down.” Both from a very dark place where we as mortals dare not go.
Donnas is destined to be filled with many surprises, will she be ready to handle them?
9 years ago Donna lost her brother in a car accident at the age of 6 years old, and ever since then she has had a fear of cars driving to close. Her mind set now was to always watch out for terrible surprises!!
Things started to happen; almost being rear ended by a blue Toyota, the car then follows her home.
Dreams start to creep into Donnas’ sleep, more like nightmares if you ask me. Of being in a dark forest; smells that she knew, but one also of something else! Fears of not being the only one in the forest fills Donnas mind as she comes into contact with something. What was it? What ever it was INHALED. It grabbed her wrists, pulling her close. The smell of rotting flesh and hate, yes hate!! Wait a minute; does HATE even have a smell? It/he was tall and its skin looked like the rotting smell that she had smelt, and its eyes looked like death!! The scariest part though was that it/he knew Donna… plus the incident that had happened earlier with the blue Toyota. Bringing up memories, which she would rather not relive this soon after them happening.
Is this the man who “sweeps” her off her feet, as her Grandma had mentioned? Or the man who, “knocks” her down? This all a dream; or is it?
Then there’s Mo, her constant best friend a vital part of her whole life. Crazy as she is. Dragging her to a Teen night club named “The Darkside”.
Running late for school and to pick up Mo because her car is broken down, she nearly runs down a young girl named Samee as she backs out of her driveway.
So now we have Mo and Samee.. More weird things, Samee knew who she was without Donna telling her. Hmmm
Dang there’s that blue car again, why does it keep popping up?? It was down the road from Mo’s house, as she was picking Mo up for school. Now it was in the school parking lot.
People are going missing, girls who resemble Donna, and nobody in their town seems to care. Not even the police department or the Mayor of their town, WHY? And now we have the Mayor, Michael St James… where did he come from? What the heck is going on?
Time to go to the The Darkside, while waiting in line Donna sees that blue car pass by again, ughhh why was that car always around?
Somebody’s watching Donna, she could feel it. Like eyes starring at the back of her head. She couldn’t see who it was or might be. Not even the waitress could see anybody behind Donna, but see thought a guy to Donnas left was. She pointed to where he was standing, but he was gone when Donna looked around, poof!
Donna then saw him, and oh my goodness was he handsome. “Go home”, he warned her. He disappeared into the darkness again.
She yelled at him, to have the blue car stop following her!
Fast forward: Hunter is the mysterious guy from The Darkside night club and he is Donnas Eternal mate and his evil brother Stephen who keeps killing Donna, only for Donna to reincarnate once again.
Dang it, I’m doing it again. Giving away to much! I know there are so many questions that remain unanswered, or that you are saying, wait I need to know the answer to that. I guess that you are just going to have to get this series and find the answers yourself!!!
If you love Demons, the underworld, Vampires and all things scary then this book/series is a MUST READ. And I mean it when I say must read. Go get your copies of this amazing series and dive into the mystery and suspense that awaits you. But I must warn you, you will not be able to put these books down.. Start early, cause you are definitely will be staying up way into the wee hours of the next morning. Only to wake and dive right back in.
Recommendation: YA and up

Dawn of the Hunter (Midnight Hunter Trilogy #2) by Bonnie Bernard
![]() Review by Anne
Donna is on the wrong end of a high powered rifle, with a 400 yr old Demon’s finger on the trigger on the other side. He’s promised to blow her brains out is she gets any closer. She steps a bit closer to the Demon monster. (Man she is just too gutsy for her own good) Before that day, Donna loved her new life. Married to the man of her dreams (Hunter, raising their daughter Lucinda, and spending time with Mo her best friend. Could she wish for anything more? *coughs, silly question* and yes I’m going to do it again.. Questions with no answers. I have to get you to want to hurry up and read this book. Maybe, a shot at saving the world? She gets the chance, when she meets a strange but, beautiful woman at the grocery store, who becomes her friend. (Or so she thought), until the so called new friend kidnaps her daughter Lucinda! Donna must do what’s inhumanely impossible. With the help of a fallen goddess from the underworld, a vengeful demon and her own will. Donna must save the world and rescue her beautiful daughter Lucinda. And the fight is on. Dawn of the Hunter will bring you back once more to the characters you’ve already met and loved (yes loved) from Midnight Hunter, (book 1) then it will introduce you to the new and exciting ones. With so much excitement jumping off the page, and with yet again so many twists and turns that never end. It seems to me that the characters (especially my favorite ones) were real in so many ways, that you could actually picture them saying and doing the things as they happen. Finding yourself waiting on what’s going to happen next as you hurry to the next page. (Remember to be careful as you turn your pages, lol) There’s so much to say about this novel, but I don’t want to ruin it for you. Just keep in mind that The Midnight Hunter Trilogy is by far one of the best, if not the best series that I have read as of late. Bonnie has such a masterful way of bringing you in to each book, and not letting you go or get away far from the book for to long, because there is just too much to read. If you try to sneak away and do others things that are on your to do list, well let me tell you “save yourself the time and energy” and sit your bottom back down until you just can’t keep your eyes open any longer, or until you absolutely can’t put things off any longer. You will find Dawn of the Hunter even better than Midnight Hunter, if that is even possible. But yes in this case I think I will have to say that Dawn of the Hunter is indeed better that the first book. Wow and that is saying a lot in my opinion!! With all that is going on between a goddess, the minions, the underworld and demons you will find yourself riveted and immersed in Dawn of the Hunter all the way to the end. Thank God there is a book 3, final Hour of The Hunter. Recommendation: YA and up Buy at Smashwords HERE |
Final Hour of the Hunter (Midnight Hunter Trilogy #3) by Bonnie Bernard
![]() Review by Anne
Once again I so want to thank the amazing Bonnie Bernard for giving me the wonderful opportunity to read and review the out of the world Trilogy of The Midnight Hunter. I just can’t say enough about all three of the books included in it. Midnight hunter floored me, and then the Dawn of the Hunter had me flipping through the pages just as fast as I could so I could find out what was happening next in the chapter that I was reading, and then there’s Final Hour of the Hunter, and OH MY GOODNESS now...more Once again I so want to thank the amazing Bonnie Bernard for giving me the wonderful opportunity to read and review the out of the world Trilogy of The Midnight Hunter. I just can’t say enough about all three of the books included in it. Midnight hunter floored me, and then the Dawn of the Hunter had me flipping through the pages just as fast as I could so I could find out what was happening next in the chapter that I was reading, and then there’s Final Hour of the Hunter, and OH MY GOODNESS now talk about a huge page turner. Well this is it….. I have mixed emotions on doing this review for Final Hour not for bad reasons, don’t get me wrong on that, but simply because that I know that this is at this time the FINAL book in my hands for this spectacular series. (Or is it?) So if it seems that if I have made this review shorter than the others it’s only because I’m sad knowing that I have to wait for book #4 to come out, yes I said book #4!!!! Bonnie has decided to grace us, the grieving souls of this series with another book. CAN I HAVE A BIG WOOT WOOT???? Ok now onto the review. It’s been two glorious years since the Underworld unleashed it’s nightmares on Donna Deangelo. Happily married, raising a beautiful daughter, and enjoying time with her crazy off the wall friend Mo. Donna is finally living the life she’s always dreamed of – free from soul stealing, kidnapping, and murder. Everything changes when Donna innocently, on her way to the store, crashes her mustang straight into the Underworlds most dangerous and vengeful deity. (This can’t be good, oh sh*t) And far from desiring an apology, the merciless goddess expects BLOOD. (How dare she, just go find it else where if you don’t mind!) Now the planets on a collision course with Chaos, and the only way out is down. Final Hour of the Hunter was and is an amazing, action packed, suspense filled book three of The Midnight Hunter Trilogy by the dynamic little firecracker Bonnie Bernard. (Bonnie, I bow down to you and genius brain of yours.) I still feel like I want to cry. I don’t want to say goodbye to the characters that I have grown to love. I loved this book, cherish it so much that although I knew I wanted to know the ending of it, I found myself TRYING without success I might add to not finish it as fast as the others. I refused to acknowledge that it was coming to an end. PRAISE, PRAISE to book #3, Final Hour of the Hunter Bonnie you’ve out did yourself with this one. I loved 1&2 but I hold this one as the most cherished thus far in the series. As I was reading, I became so attached to the storyline that when the betrayal of one of my favorite vampires happened, I found myself saying “Oh no, that did not just happen”, then I got angry is the good way to put it or maybe disappointed at Donna when the silly women got dang butterflies in her stomach, yes I just said butterflies!! Over some other guy not HER hunter. Come on, this is Donna who is married to the gorgeous, hot adoring warrior of a husband, Hunter. (How could she???) Confusion as to who goes missing by the bad guys, falling in love with the most unlikely characters- the Evil Howie himself. He’s so cute in a round about way that it’s hard not to get attached to him. (He reminds me of a big soft marshmallow in a creepiest kind of way) Howie is the likeable kind of demon that you can laugh at and yes scream at too as you want to strangle him for some of the stuff he pulls and does. My suggestion to all the readers out there is to HURRY and get this phenomenal series, you will not regret it one bit. And you will find yourself hiding it in your special prize bookshelf for safe keeping, and so no one will dare to take it out and read it. Nope keep your hands off my beautiful Midnight Hunter Trilogy. Go get your own!!! But I may read to you if you are real nice to me…. THANK YOU AGAIN BONNIE BERNARD FOR THIS AMAZING TRILOGY, now get cracking on book #4 and get it finished so we don’t have to wait to long!!!! (Sorry I couldn’t resist, yes there is a #4) Recommendation: YA and up |
