Tricked (Iron Druid Chronicles #4) by Kevin Hearne

Review by Anne
I won TRICKED as a first reads on goodreads, to read and review. I’d like to thank Author Kevin Hearne for the opportunity to read this great book, which is from “The Iron Druid Chronicles”
Tricked is book #4 of “The Iron Druid Chronicles” with Hounded as #1, Hexed as #2 and Hammered #3 by the popular Author Kevin Hearne.
~~~ A pretty good description of Atticus would be that he is a strong modern hero with a very long (and I do mean a REAL LONG) history and the wit to survive in the twenty-first...more I won TRICKED as a first reads on goodreads, to read and review. Druid Atticus O’Sullivan hasn’t stayed alive for more than two millennia without a fair bit of Celtic cunning. So when vengeful thunder gods come Norse by Southwest looking for payback, Atticus, with a little help from the Navajo trickster god Coyote, lets them think they’ve chopped up his body in the Arizona desert.
But the mischievous Coyote is not above a little slight of paw, and Atticus soon finds that he’s been duped into battling blood thirsty desert shape-shifters called skin walkers. Just when the Druid thinks he’s got a handle on all the duplicity, betrayal comes from an unlikely source. If Atticus survives this time, he vows he won’t be fooled again. Ya, right, famous last words. (I‘ve said that before myself)
Although I entered into this series with the 4th book, I was truly impressed by Kevin Hearne’s well written developed plot that was exciting, action filled and full of fantastic interesting creatures, characters and gods. (yeah, I love it when there are the all mighty gods in a storyline)
I absolutely loved some of the conversations between the characters, most definitely my favorite characters dialog were of Atticus and Orberon!! Several times during reading Tricked I found myself giggling at what they were saying… then double checking where I interrupted myself to make sure I picked off before I started laughing. (still laughing over here as I remember a funny part)
Ticked is a urban paranormal fantasy that is clever, funny and fast paced novel that is a great change for those who are tiring or burned out on vampires and werewolves. Don’t get me wrong by no means, I will never give up my love of werewolves and vampires…
Another great aspect that I was over the moon about was that my heritage homeland of Scotland with it’s magnificent moorlands’ and castles played a part of this book. Times like this I miss Scotland and my family that are there so much.
If you are looking for an entertaining page turner read then The Iron Druid Chronicles series is a set of books that you must pick up when you get a chance and read them I’m certainly glad that I had the chance to read this one.
Thank you Kevin and Del/Rey for this tremendous entertaining read. Now I must add another 3 books to my ever growing list of books to read, 1-3 and then wait for “Trapped” #5 to be released in fall of this year.
Recommend: YA and up
