Breathless by Scott Prussing

Review by Daisy
This is a very good book, Scott Prussing has created a believable sideline to the vampire genre by asking the simple question, 'What if they're not all perfect?'
The story starts 18 years previously when a pregnant woman is bitten by a one-fanged vampire - the repercussions of this reach far into the future and the lives of all the characters. The story takes place as her daughter goes to university in Connecticut, the scene of the bite. Whilst there she is hoping to find her older brother who has gone missing.
In this story we have the usual events of friendships and teenage angst - vampire hunter v vampire, new friends and studies, interesting professors and so on. The twists are cleverly done and make for enthralling reading. The author writes with confidence and does not slip in his depiction of this world. I especially like the cool professor and the new study area of Vampire Science.
These little touches make the book well worth the read - I stayed up later than I should have in order to finish it - even for people who are not necessarily into vampire stories.
