Switched (a TRYLLE novel) by Amanda Hocking

First an foremost, my apologies on the late review on this novel that I won on goodgreads as a first-reads. And I'd like to thank Amanda Hocking for the opportunity to read Switched, her first book in the TRYLLE series.
When Wendy Everly was six years old, her mother was convinced she was a monster and tried to kill her with a very large kitchen knife at her birthday party. Eleven years later, Wendy discovers her mother may have been right all along.
I have now read Switched two 1 1/2 times, only for the reason that I thought I was missing a important part or parts that pulled the storylie together; but each time I did read it once more I just couldn't seem to see where i was missing the vital parts that I felt were missing in the first place. I just kept shaking my head, wondering, "ok where or how did the story get to this point?"
Maybe because i was reading it when I was too tired, or not in the right frame of mind. (although reading when I feel I'm tired is my normal, thanks to insomnia)
Although the storyline was enjoyable, and a easy enough read, I just kept putting it down and picking up another novel to read for review instead.
I felt that maybe the this novel (Switched) was rushed to quickly to get into print, which in alot of ways would account for the lack of flowing or meshing that you see and count on with a story. The missing points that were not in Switched, were a important aspect to take you from point A to point B. Instead of just arriving there, and not knowing how you or the story got there.
The characters (or some of them) had alot of great promising head way, only to find that they fell short on reaching that goal before they had a chance.
Wendy, I think was really the kind of person that you say, "she's the kind you love to hate/dislike, well for me I truly wanted to like her and give her the benifit of the doubt. But jsut when I thought her annoying traits, bad manners, etc couldn't get any worse.. well guess what they did and with no reason for her to get to that point!!!! (hense the lack of vital flowing of the story)
Well, umphhh I honestly think that this is my very first negative review I've written. I almost feel like I don't want to write it, but both good and bad reviews should help shouldn't they ?? :-/
I would love to see Amanda do a rewrite of this novel, to give it a better chance as a great book one of the trilogy. Taking more time to bring it all together for us the readers, and most definitly for Amanda as a Author. The TRYLLE trilogy itself sounds amazing!! And yes, I have all three, (I was excited to read this series, it sounded so good) so I feel I sould give "Torn & Ascend" their fair shot at maybe somehow bring the trilogy together. I sure hope so.
