Dark Lover: Black Dagger Brotherhood series: Book 1 by J.R. Ward

Review by Natalie
This book is what started my addiction to the roller-coaster world of the Black Dagger Brotherhood.
Wrath is the last pure blood vampire left and the King of the race. It's a big burden to carry and one he resents.
Fighting alongside his brothers to protect the race is his way of being a leader rather than sitting on a throne giving out orders.
His life has carried on this way uninterrupted until the brother Darius is killed in a surprise attack by the enemy, the Lessers.
An unknown daughter is revealed and a promise to protect her are given to Wrath just before his best friends death. So with his last wishes to uphold Wrath sets out to meet this Beth Randall and get her out of his life as quick as he can...but when do things always go to plan so neatly?
A truly great book and series which I believe can be read by both men and women as the brothers are the epitome of macho men that anyone would want to be or be with. Based in modern day Boston the dialogue is thick with swearing and there is very detailed adult content which can put some off but I think would be odd if it were missing from this type of story.

Lover Reborn: Black Dagger Brotherhood series: Book 10 by J R Ward

By Natalie
I am a Die hard fan of this series so needless to say was eagerly awaiting this installment of Tohr and his bereavement for his wife Welsie.
It starts with the deep depression and anger Tohr battles through while his brothers look on at a loss with how to help to save him from himself. All around him he see's mercy and even re-incarnation which he was never allowed when his soul mate was murdered with his young.
It had quite a slow flow throughout with no real surprises which was disappointing and I found myself wanting to hear more about the other characters that hadn't been mentioned in a while. I'm glad as a follower of the story that he achieved peace but am getting slightly bored with how things wrap up in a nice little bow at the end of each book. I need a good cliff hanger from this series I think.
You can read it as a stand alone book as things are explained but it's better to have the background knowledge first.
