Welcome to our site. This site was never intended as ‘just another review site’ – you can trawl the search engines and find thousands of them, millions even. This site was started to help people, writers, independent authors, unpublished, still trying, looking for agents – ordinary people who love to write. How do we hope to help? By writing reviews that are honest, showcasing new books and new writers – and some not-so-new – and building up a community where everyone feels that they actually do make some kind of difference.
I do have a vested interest in this site, I’m an author, published by a very small and independent publisher. My stable-mates are all very talented and I really would love to see them all get the recognition they deserve, yes, I do mean me too, please. But not just those from ‘our’ publishing house, but writers from the other small presses that have sprung up since this revolution in self-publishing started. Now don’t go off on one, being all indignant that you’ve been tricked in some way into looking at ‘vanity press’ – you haven’t. The authors that will be reviewed here have worked hard at their craft and believe me, if a book is reviewed as ‘trash’, ‘not fit to be read’, ‘a complete waste of my reading time’, ‘unable to finish’ or other terrible review, then they will not appear here. Firstly because this is NOT a writer-bashing exercise, there’s more than enough of that kind of thing to be found in other places. This site is going to be filled with books that are ‘good’, ‘worth reading’, ‘an excellent story’, and even some ‘not my sort of thing, but it would suit someone that does like this genre’. The emphasis is on quality and if along the way, we get some quality authors recognised and sent on their way to bigger things, then BRILLIANT, we’ll celebrate their success. We’re taking the chance on the new books, the new authors, the new writers so that by reading the reviews, you can actually make up your mind to see if you’d give them a chance too. Go on, what have you got to lose? You may just read a blockbuster before almost anyone else does. How cool would that be? |
